Say what you will about the Star Wars prequels. I'd probably agree with you there.
But one of the top ten reasons I'm a writer and novelist today is because of George Lucas.
Tonight I watched Empire Strikes Back again (for not only enjoyment but to get some inspiration for a project). I was reminded how much I love that universe and those characters and that story.
George Lucas was responsible for that. Maybe he didn't direct Empire or write the screenplay but it doesn't matter.
This guy created the Star Wars universe and also helped create the Indiana Jones universe.
Those two series of movies helped unhinge my creative genes and allowed me to dream.
(Yes, John Williams is responsible in a big part, too, but that's another story.)
